Robert Moses served as the New York City Parks Commissioner for 26 years. He built massive infrastructure projects including 13 bridges, 413 playgrounds, and 658 miles of parkways. His influence reshaped the urban landscape, prioritizing automobile transit across the five boroughs of New York City, one of his biggest achievements. Moses directed the construction of the Triborough Bridge and the Cross Bronx Expressway. These projects required the demolition of thousands of homes to build 7 expressways. His power peaked in the mid 20th century as he oversaw the Shea Stadium and the 1964 New York Worlds Fair grounds for the duration of the event. Critics challenged his methods after he displaced 250,000 residents during his tenure. Activist Jane Jacobs fought his plan to build a highway through Washington Square Park in Manhattan. Moses eventually retired in 1968, leaving a legacy defined by both modern expansion and controversial displacement of underrepresented peoples.

The Green Revolution began in the 1940s when Norman Borlaug led research in Mexico. By developing high-yield wheat varieties and using 2 new fertilizer types, he boosted crop production significantly. This period transformed agriculture in 3 continents, preventing hunger for 1 billion people. International agencies like the Rockefeller Foundation and the Ford Foundation funded this 20-year shift in farming. They introduced 5 major crop varieties to countries like India and Pakistan. These efforts helped farmers utilize 100 million hectares of land to achieve national food self-sufficiency. Modern critics note that these 2 practices also increased reliance on water and synthetic chemicals. While the 1 global surge in yields fueled population growth, it sparked debates on ecological impact. Today, 15 agricultural research centers continue to study these methods for food security.
